Advertising Poster Hassall Drury Lane Pantomime Babes In The Wood. Original antique theatre poster for a Drury Lane Pantomime show for children written and invented by the playwrights J. Hickory Wood and Arthur Collins. Colourful image by the notable English illustrator, poster designer and cartoonist John Hassall (1868-1948) depicting a smartly dressed man coaxing two children towards two unshaven men, one with a money pouch and a dagger knife on his belt, the young girl wheeling a toy dog on a red ribbon behind her and the boy holding his hat behind his back. Traditional Christmas pantomimes have been held at the Drury Lane Theatre in Covent Garden London since the early 1700s. Horizontal. Excellent condition, light staining in margins.
