Korean War Ephemera UK Soldier Who Collected Flyers. Set of ephemera from a British Korean war veteran including a photo and an envelope with the account of his engagement in the war. Photo of a soldier smiling by the water, handwritten in ink on the back � Korea Aug 1961 Love Charles. Very good condition, minor staining, writing on reverse in ink. Size (cm): 9x6. The text on the envelope reads: I was in Korea from April 27 1951 to April 1952. Attached to 27 Commonwealth Brigade. Army 22378832 B Company Shropshire Light Infantry. I left Hong Kong for Korea Tue 8th May 1951. 1,100 killed, 2,700 wounded, 1,100 taken prisoner, 900 of these buried in the United Nations Cemetery in Pusan. Landed in Korea Sunday 13th May. Gloucester overrun 25 April 1951 Landed at Inchon. With the 27 Brigade Douglas Mac Arther who was withdrawn by Truman in April 1951 because he wanted to go in to China. Minus 26F to 40F in Winter. 60,000 British troops served in Korea over three years. 16 Infantry Battalions, 4 Tank Regiments, 9 Artillery Regiments. Size (cm): 16x23.
