Travel Poster London Underground Parliament French President Eckersley. Original vintage travel poster issued by London Transport featuring a great mid-century illustration by the notable artist Tom Eckersley (1914-1997) depicting a silhouette in shades of red and black of a state trumpeter musician in uniform sounding the royal salute and holding a trumpet with a blue flag on it decorated with the London Transport roundel logo in white, the bold title text in red above - State Opening of Parliament March 6th - and rest of the text in black and blue lettering on the side and below reading - Nearest stations Westminster St. James's Park Victoria Trafalgar Square Strand Charing Cross Green Park and see posters at all stations March 7th to 10th Visit of French President. Parliament was opened by King George VI (1895-1952) on 6 March 1950; following this annual ceremony the politician and then French President Vincent Jules Auriol (1884-1996; President of France 1947-1954) made a three day state visit to the UK.
