Advertising Poster Hassall Drury Lane Pantomime The White Cat. Original antique theatre poster for a Drury Lane Pantomime show for children written and invented by the playwrights J. Hickory Wood and Arthur Collins. Colourful image by the notable English illustrator, poster designer and cartoonist John Hassall (1868-1948) depicting characters in flamboyant costumes in a royal throne room with a man in a red cape with a white ruff collar holding a white cat as he kneels in front of the King and Queen and two guards who are all looking down at him, the stylised title text running down the sides and theatre text above. Traditional Christmas pantomimes have been held at the Drury Lane Theatre in Covent Garden London since the early 1700s. Horizontal. Very good condition, light staining, creases and restored tears in margins. Country of issue: UK, designer: John Hassall, size (cm): 76x50.5, year of printing: 1904.
