Advertising Poster Bank of Bengal Shares Calcutta India. Original antique Bank of Bengal shares certificate issued to Mrs F. Hill on 6 June 1914, featuring stylised writing and embossed stamps, the reverse features the record of share transfers. Founded in 1806 as the Bank of Calcutta, renamed in 1809 to The Bank of Bengal, it was one of three presidency banks that merged in 1921 to form the Imperial Bank of India, which was the precursor to the modern-day State Bank of India.
