Advertising Poster Merry Widow Operetta Meilhac Dola Comic Elegant Classic Original vintage advertising poster for La Veuve Joyeuse / The Merry Widow operetta in three acts after Henri Meilhac's 1861 comic play. French libretto by M.M. Gaston de Caillavet and Robert de Flers. The poster features a bright illustration of an elegantly dressed couple, a gentleman in a tuxedo with a rose at the lapel and a monocle, and a lady in a long flowing ornate blue dress, stylised lettering set over yellow background. The original operetta was composed by Franz Lehar and librettists Viktor Leon and Leo Stein first performed in 1905 in Vienna and reached international success since then.
