Vintage black and white illustration by English artist Aubrey Beardsley (1872-1898), from the series created for the 1894 English edition of Oscar Wilde's play Salome, drawings were influenced by Japanese woodcuts, and depicted the grotesque, the decadent, and the erotic. The poster depicts Salome with her mother, Herodias. Salome's robe features a decorative pattern of stylised butterflies and other motifs, and she wears an elaborate headdress.
