Set of 4 original vintage World War One comic cartoon artwork prints by prominent British humorist and cartoonist Bruce Bairnsfather (1887-1959). 1. The Professional Instinct Again - artwork features a soldier juggling grenades in the trenches as his fellow soldiers run for cover. Caption below reads - 'Private Smith, the company bomber (formerly "Shinio," the popular juggler), frequently causes considerable anxiety to his platoon.' Bystander copyright. No Possible Doubt Whatever - soldier acting as night watchman and looking at a man walking by in the shadows and holding a sack. Caption below details an exchange between the two men - Sentry: " 'Alt! Who goes there?" He of the Bundle: "You shut yer mouth, or I'll come and knock yer 'ead off" Sentry: "Pass Friend!"
