Original antique book Grien On Rougemont, or The Story of a Modern Robinson Crusoe as told in the Pages of the Daily Chronicle, illustrated with ten humorous drawings by Phil May and additional pictures, including a pantomime sketch by Barry Pain. The magazine compiles the Daily Chronicle�s 1898 satirical expos� of Louis de Rougemont (real name Henri Louis Grien, 1847�1921), a Swiss fantasist who falsely claimed to have lived for decades as a god among Australian Aboriginals. The cover depicts a man painted in green and red holding a bow, with a spotted dog named Bruno at his feet, and a female silhouette holding a paintbrush beside buckets of paint. The issue includes Fry's Cocoa and Owbridge's Lung Tonic advertisements. Published by Edward Lloyd Ltd., Daily Chronicle, Fleet Street, London.
